Hi folks,
I'd like to let you all know that XQuartz 2.7.9_beta1 is available for download. There are a few important things to note with this beta:
This beta is built with address-sanitization enabled. This will have an impact on performance (eg: the font caching that happens during the "one minute remaining" phase at the end of installation will take longer than usual), but it will allow me to get potentially pertinent bug reports for various crashes that have been reported over the years which can't be easily reproduced and aren't really actionable without more information.
Because of our use of ASan, this means that testing this beta will require OS X 10.8.5. The release candidates and final release of 2.7.9 will run on 10.6.3 and above).
libXt is now compiled without -flat_namespace. To maintain binary compatibility, the dylib id was bumped and a binary compatible version (linked with -flat_namespace) is still present at the old path. This will primarily impact developers of motif-based software.
xorg-server was bumped to version 1.17.4 (from 1.16.4), pulling in changes from that upstream release.
More information is available on the wiki at:
http://xquartz.macosforge.org/trac/wiki/X112.7.9
You can download the image directly from:

Thanks,
Jeremy
